Live, Work, and Play in Abacoa’s Antigua Community

Toward the southern end of Abacoa you will find the neighborhood of Antigua. Situated in the heart of Abacoa and boasting 280 beautiful townhomes, you will find the peaceful neighborhood of Antigua at Abacoa. The Homes in Antigua provide a laid back setting with a “Bahamian” feel and come complete with porches and balconies overlooking lush common areas. Divided by a wide green space featuring open and wooded areas, and accented by a lovely gazebo, the community also features a wonderful clubhouse with landscape pool and fitness center.

The properties in Antigua include a range of types of townhomes. Two story models with two or three bedrooms and a 1 car garage vary in space from approximately 1300 to 1350 square feet and, as of the end of 2010, were selling in the $160,000 to $190,000 range. Three story townhomes, which have three to four bedrooms in addition to a 2 car garage, and are 1850 and 2150 square feet and have been selling in the $180,000 to $225,000 range. A number of the townhomes have upgrades such as granite kitchens and ceramic tile throughout first floor living areas. From the condominium living at The Village at Abacoa and Somerset, to the townhomes of Antigua, to the lovely single family homes of Cambridge, there is something for everyone.

The townhouses in Antigua were designed to take advantage of this area’s special Live-Work zoning. With small to medium sized office rooms on the first floor and living quarters on the second and third floor, numerous residents enjoy the combined benefit from dedicated professional or studio space together with the added bonus of working out of their home. Even with the professional / residential nature, the community is tranquil with its tree-lined avenues that provide a low-key lifestyle.

Abacoa is also home to various other occupational and academic opportunities. Three years ago, the Scripps Research Institute commenced operations at the MacArthur Campus of Florida Atlantic University just south of downtown Abacoa, moving at the end of 2009 into its new building on the Campus. In addition, the only location of the Max Planck Institute outside of Germany is scheduled to start construction across the street from Scripps. Finally, The MacArthur Campus is also home to four hundred and fifty students at the FAU Harriet Wilkes Honors College. The modest “live & learn” liberal arts school (which has a large number of students specializing in scientific disciplines and pre-medical and pre-veterinary curriculum), offers serious college students an especially focused educational environment with smaller classes taught exclusively by professors.

Antigua at Abacoa home owners take advantage of stress-free access to a wide range of shopping, dining, and entertainment options in Downtown Abacoa and the surrounding area. Offering minor league baseball and spring training for the St. Louis Cardinals and Florida Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium, monthly Classic Car shows, weekly concerts in the park, the annual Artigras Art Fair, the Hibel Museum Gallery, and a number of additional family happenings all through the year, residents find Abacoa to be a fun and warm, and friendly destination to live.

When it comes to homes in Jupiter, there are few places that offer the variety of lifestyle as the community of Abacoa.
