If you spend your winters dreaming of warm sunshine and staying outdoors for long days, you are not alone. There are plenty of people who prefer living in warm areas that offer even temperatures all year-long. While there are problems you may have to deal with in warmer areas that are not an issue where there are bitter cold winters like pest control and termite control, once you get things under control, there are plenty of benefits. You may have to sacrifice things like a white Christmas or the ability to ski near your home, but many people agree, living in a warm place is much better than dealing with harsh winter weather.
Warm climates are often healthier places. In the winter, people keep themselves cooped up indoors. This not only means not experiencing much exposure to fresh air and sunshine, it also means breathing recycled indoor air. This has a tendency to make people sick because they are just passing germs through the ventilation system. Breathing fresh air is one of the healthiest things a person can do and while it is possible to head outdoors in cold climates to breathe in the outdoor air, it is less likely to happen. Your inclination is to hibernate and stay inside where it is warm, but if you live in a warm area, there will be little difference in the indoor and outdoor temperatures.
People who live in warmer climates have a tendency to socialize more. This is partly because they are outdoors and in areas besides their home. The warm air also encourages you to move slower and notice things and people around you. People who live in bitter cold climates are very task-driven and just want to get out and in as quickly as possible. If you can spend time outdoors, walking around you neighborhood and enjoying the community, you are more likely to make friends.
Living things in warmer climates have longer life spans. Your home will require less maintenance if you do not have to prep it for bitter cold temperatures. Your landscaping will not die off every winter and your car may last longer if it is not facing cold temperatures and snow. You may even add years to your life because the warm climate encourages you to lead a healthier lifestyle. You can eat fresh, local produce all year-long and you can spend time outside getting exercise.
Finally, you may find you are surrounded by happier people in warmer climates. The cold has a tendency to force people to be emotionally closed off. The cold is uncomfortable for a lot of people and they just want to focus on themselves and keeping warm. Even the healthiest people sometimes struggle with cold temperatures and having to spend a lot of time indoors for long periods of time. If you want to live where people are happy, socializing and free to spend time outdoors, consider living in a warmer climate where all of these things are possible.
